Placement
Weather stations from CUMULUS A/S A CUMULUS weather station must be placed so that it is as representative as possible.
So, what do we do?
If the observations of wind have a primary function, the weather station must be positioned so that there is the most exposure to the west and south-west. For approx. 80% of the time the wind comes from those directions – see the wind rise. The official height for wind measurements is 10 meters – however, much work takes place at a lower height.
If the temperature is most important, the temperature sensor must be placed at 2 meters, which is the official height. The sensor is mounted at a height of two meters on the mast.
If you are in doubt, you are welcome to call and get guidance.
Wind and rain gauge
If a rain gauge is placed on the roof of a building, it can significantly reduce the amount of rain when there is an “onshore wind” on the building.
