Height above ground and why 

The temperature sensor must be placed at a height of 2 meters – this is the official measuring height. It can be placed at a different height, but this is only in connection with special requests. The temperature in the weather forecasts is a 2 meter temperature. Another reason is that the temperature can vary with altitude, especially in winter when it is clear and windless. It can be around 4 degrees colder at ground level than at a height of 2 metres. If the temperature sensor is at a different height, this must be noted. It is possible on the basis of other parameters to determine the temperature, e.g. down at the ground surface. 

The stations can be equipped with either one of the brands MetSpec, NGS or Vaisala, which is built together with the humidity sensor – see below. 

Sheath/steel protection 

Cover in which the sensor is mounted protects against solar radiation, 

and which at the same time ensures good ventilation.
