Shore power for the marine industry

Why should I have ShoreSupply as shore power?

ShoreSupply is an alternative marine power supply solution (AMP) for ships berthed in ports. It is a customized solution developed in close collaboration with customers to meet their specific needs. The solution uses standardized drivelines from Danfoss.

What sets ShoreSupply apart from other AMP solutions is the ability to combine two or more powertrains into a single AMP solution through parallel coupling in the system. This unique feature makes it possible to deliver up to 328 kVA by combining two 164 kVA power lines, for example to meet the power needs of a ship requiring 300 kVA.

ShoreSupply offers customers great flexibility, as powertrains can be combined and connected in parallel. This maximizes capacity utilization and allows scalability as needed.

When ShoreSupply is connected to a ship, it automatically synchronizes to avoid interference when connected to shore power. The system continuously monitors all operations, and in case of errors, alarms are triggered. In addition, all power consumption is recorded automatically and can be easily extracted as an Excel file from the cloud-based system.

FAQ
Why should you choose shore power?2024-03-14T08:58:38+00:00

Shore power is a more environmentally friendly alternative, as it reduces or eliminates emissions from the ship’s own generators, which normally use fossil fuels. It also helps reduce noise and vibration levels on board, improving the environment for both the crew and the environment around the port.

In order to receive shore power, a ship must normally have a shore power cable and a compatible plug that can be connected to a shore-based power source. Ports and terminals must also have the necessary infrastructure to supply shore power to ships and comply with safety and quality standards.

Shore power is increasingly used in both commercial shipping and recreational boats to reduce environmental impact and improve energy efficiency. It is part of the efforts to promote sustainable shipping and reduce climate and air pollution from ship traffic.

What is shore supply?2024-03-14T08:59:49+00:00

Shore supply, refers to electrical power supplied to a vessel while connected to a wharf or shore-based power source. Instead of using internal generators or engines to generate electricity on board the ship or boat, shore supply can provide the electricity needed to power various onboard systems, including lighting, air conditioning, appliances and charging batteries.
