How it works

How FlexGuard connects your equipment to the mobile network

Wire the signals, power the unit, and the equipment reports to you and takes commands from you.

The FlexGuard unit (VikMote FlexGuard VX10 PRO) is mounted near the equipment and wired to it: the analog input takes a 0 to 10 V DC signal such as a level or pressure sensor, the two digital inputs take contacts such as run, fault or door signals, and the two digital outputs switch relays or contactors. Supply is 8 to 36 V DC and a built in battery keeps the unit alive if the supply drops.

Over the GSM network the unit sends status updates and alarms as SMS and/or email, and accepts SMS commands for the outputs. With Emiko login access the same signals and controls are available in the app and web dashboard, next to your other connected installations.

GSM remote monitoring and control with FlexGuard

FlexGuard adds remote monitoring and control to equipment you already own: wire the signals once, and pumps, heaters, lighting and alarms report to your phone from anywhere with mobile coverage.

Who FlexGuard is for

FlexGuard is the general purpose unit in Vikingegaarden's range: it is not tied to one product category, but to a type of problem. Wherever equipment with analog or digital signals runs at a remote or unmanned site, a pump at a field station, a heater in a holiday building, lighting at an unstaffed facility, an alarm contact on a door, FlexGuard adds remote equipment monitoring and control over the GSM network.

It suits both a single small facility and larger operations, because units can be added one site at a time as needs grow.

Understanding the inputs and outputs

The VikMote FlexGuard VX10 PRO offers one analog input for a 0 to 10 V DC signal, two digital inputs and two digital outputs. In practice, the analog input takes a sensor such as a level or pressure transmitter, the digital inputs take contacts such as run, fault or door signals, and the digital outputs switch relays or contactors.

Choosing a configuration is therefore a matter of listing the signals your equipment offers: which one value do you want to measure, which two states do you want to watch, and which two things do you want to switch remotely. Further configurations are available on request.

Installation and commissioning

The package contains one compact GSM unit and a 5 cm GSM antenna. The unit is mounted near the equipment, typically closed inside a small cabinet or panel, and wired to the signals. Supply is flexible, 8 to 36 V DC, and a built in battery backup with voltage monitoring supports controller reporting during a supply interruption, with duration dependent on the operating configuration.

Commissioning consists of wiring the inputs and outputs, connecting power and defining which events should trigger which alerts.

Alerts, SMS control and the Emiko app

Alerts are customisable per event: equipment malfunction, power issues or a sensor threshold can each trigger a notification, delivered as SMS and/or email. The configured event and communication setup determine which notifications are sent.

Control runs both ways. The digital outputs can be switched by SMS command from a configured phone, and with Emiko login access the same signals and controls appear in the app and web dashboard, next to your other connected installations.

Choose general I/O or a dedicated controller

Choose FlexGuard when the requirement is a defined set of analog and digital equipment signals. List the sensor value, status contacts and outputs, then confirm the interface, power and communication arrangements. Additional units can bring more installations into the same Emiko view.

Which signals can FlexGuard connect to?
