How it works

How FlexVander LX runs a pump station

A weatherproof GSM controller at the pump, the mobile network in between, and the Emiko App in your hand.

A single closed grey cabinet on a galvanized pole at the field edge, with a hose reel irrigator working far behind.

The FlexVander LX unit is a light grey weatherproof enclosure with status LEDs and cable glands, mounted on a wall, integrated in equipment, fitted in a panel or, with the LX4 Pro, clipped on a DIN rail in an electrical cabinet. It is wired to the pump contactor and to any sensors or meters, and uses the mobile connection supported by the installed modem and local network. It started as a GSM/SMS remote control unit and has been upgraded with Emiko platform integration, weather based scheduling and app and web access.

From the Emiko App the operator sees live pump status, alarms for faults and power failure, a map view of field installations, and user and company access management. Pumps can still be started and stopped by SMS or voice call, and alerts arrive as SMS when a pump stops or power is lost.

FlexVander LX add-ons and the Emiko platform

Connected add-ons bring more field data into the same irrigation control setup.

FlexVander runs on the Emiko platform, so pump control sits next to weather data, energy measurement and sensor inputs. A weather station adds local wind, rain and temperature for irrigation timing and frost protection. An energy meter follows electricity use per pump, per field and per irrigation cycle. Electronic pressure control keeps the system between adjustable minimum and maximum limits, and selected smart sensors give more detailed monitoring of field conditions.

Remote irrigation pump control with FlexVander LX

FlexVander LX adds remote start, stop, status and alarms to field irrigation pumps. Choose the controller model, mounting arrangement and optional inputs around the existing pump station.

Who FlexVander LX is for

FlexVander LX is aimed at farms that irrigate with electric pumps and cannot afford to stand next to them: centre pivot and linear systems, travelling or towable hose reel irrigation machines, permanent pump stations and fields far from the farm. Built for Danish agriculture and Nordic conditions, it replaces routine drives to the pump with remote irrigation pump control, live status and alarms.

One unit controls up to two irrigation pumps, so a typical field station with a main pump and a booster or second pump is covered by a single controller.

Choosing between LX9 Eco, LX9 Pro and LX4 Pro

All three models share the same pump control and Emiko integration; the differences are mounting and inputs. The LX9 Eco is the standard choice for most new installations and suits wall mounting, integration into equipment or panel based setups. The LX9 Pro adds extra analogue inputs for meteorological sensors and extended monitoring of field conditions. The LX4 Pro is built for electrical cabinets where the controller must clip onto a DIN rail, which makes it the natural fit for panel builders and existing pump stations.

Installation and commissioning at the pump station

On site, the controller does its work out of sight: it is mounted closed inside a small metal cabinet or electrical panel at the pump station, wired to the pump contactor and to any sensors or meters. The connection to the outside world is the mobile network, using the installed modem and the networks available at the field, and commands are safeguarded against unauthorised access.

An internal battery backup keeps alarms working during a power failure, so the controller can still report that the supply is gone. Commissioning means wiring the pumps and sensors, registering the unit in Emiko and defining who receives which alerts.

App, SMS and alarms in daily operation

Pumps are started and stopped from the Emiko App, by SMS or by voice call, whichever suits the moment. In the app the operator sees live pump status, an alarm overview for faults and power failure, a map view of field installations and user and company access management, all behind a single login.

SMS notifications report pump stoppage or power loss. Alarm recipients and the response to each event are configured during commissioning.

Plan weather inputs and energy functions

Choose the additional data that will change an irrigation decision. Local rain, wind and temperature readings can inform the configured timing and frost-protection functions. A Cumulus agricultural weather station provides a wider field-weather record, while the optional EnergyLogger records electricity consumption.

Emiko can support pausing and resuming irrigation in response to hourly electricity prices. Agree the scheduling rules, any pressure-control requirements and the connected sensors as part of commissioning. The selected rules should reflect the farm's irrigation needs and the available operating windows.
