At Vikingegaarden, we believe in solutions that don’t just work – they last. That’s why we’re excited to introduce Jan Nygaard, an experienced Engineer for Aids to Navigation (ATON), who joins our team.
Jan doesn’t just bring tools and expertise – he brings a mindset built around precision, reliability, and putting the customer first. With more than two decades in the field, he knows the value of building strong systems – and even stronger relationships.
Over 20 Years of Field Experience in Aids to Navigation
Jan has worked as a technician for over 20 years, with the last 4 years focused exclusively on ATON systems. His hands-on background makes him a valuable addition to our harbor projects — especially where compliance, functionality, and real-time performance matter most.
He has completed numerous installations involving marine equipment, obstruction lights, and bridge surveillance systems. His experience with the Danish Maritime Authority (DMA) includes projects for major bridges across Denmark – ensuring every light, every signal, and every connection is built to last.
Deep Expertise from an Engineer for Aids to Navigation
As a harbor technology engineer, Jan specializes in integrating ATON systems with complex infrastructure, including bridges, coastal areas, and custom harbor zones. His practical knowledge ensures that every installation meets the highest industry standards – and works from day one.
He describes his philosophy clearly:
“A good solution is a turnkey one. It works without problems, follows the rules, and delivers what the customer needs — every time.”
Helping Customers Navigate Technical Challenges
For Jan, working with customers is just as important as working with cables and connectors. Many harbor operators may not be familiar with the latest ATON regulations or best practices — and that’s where Jan steps in. He takes pride in guiding customers toward the right solution, with a personal touch that builds trust and confidence.
A Family Man with a Love for the Coast
Outside of work, Jan is a proud husband and father of four children, ranging in age from 15 to 30. Living close to the coast, he enjoys time with his family and recharging near the sea. At 57, Jan brings the perfect balance of experience and energy to the Vikingegaarden team — always with a cup of coffee in hand.
Leading ATON Innovation with Jan Nygaard
With Jan’s arrival, Vikingegaarden now holds over 90% of Denmark’s field knowledge in Aids to Navigation (ATON) – a milestone that strengthens our role as a leading expert in harbor technology.
We’re now even better equipped to scale our services both across Denmark and into new international projects – including upcoming installations in Iceland. From sector lights and marine lanterns to custom-built, turnkey systems, our Engineer for Aids to Navigation ensures reliable results, every time.
