A lantern is selected by position, power supply and the level of monitoring you want.

Power supply and optical requirements distinguish the Nova-65 and MCL 360. Start with the navigation mark, then specify the complete installation.

Buoy lantern or fixed navigation light

LED marine lanterns mark harbor entrances, breakwaters, channel marks, buoys and fixed structures. The marking plan determines the colour, flash character and required range for each position. For an approach that needs a defined line or sector, see range and sector lights.

Nova-65 or MCL 360

The two core models split the work by power supply and position. The Nova-65 is a compact omnidirectional LED lantern for buoys, beacons and fixed structures, with vertical divergence options from 5 to 30 degrees, low power consumption and a robust design for long unattended service. It runs on an external supply and is prepared for integration with the Emiko platform.

The MCL 360 is a self contained solar lantern whose solar cells form the body of the unit itself, providing a self contained power arrangement. With a range of up to 11 nautical miles and minimal maintenance, it suits buoys and fixed AtoN sites that must run autonomously for long periods. Full photometric data for each model is available on request.

Installation and commissioning

Vikingegaarden helps select the lantern, power supply and mounting for the site, then delivers and commissions the equipment. For a complete fixed installation with a mast and backup power, MarineGuard brings these components together.

Monitoring and service

GPS synchronisation, Marine AIS and LightGuard monitoring are available within the range. The Nova-65 is prepared for integration with the Emiko platform; full integration is available for the MCL 360. Confirm the required functions for the selected configuration.

LED technology removes routine bulb changes, but the complete installation still needs an inspection and service plan. Vikingegaarden supports the lanterns alongside the rest of the site's aids to navigation.
