What the GMR mast series is for
A mast is the part nobody thinks about until the light sits too low to be seen from the fairway. The GMR series is made to put the mark at the right height and keep it there.
Two mast tops
A standard top plate, or a lantern compatible top that takes a marine lantern directly without an adapter.
Hot-dip galvanised
The steel is galvanised after fabrication, and an extra heavy galvanising is available where the exposure asks for it.
Carries the whole mark
Lanterns, daymarks, racons, solar panels and monitoring enclosures mount on the mast and on its top plate.
Where it is used
A mast on a quay, a breakwater or a shore mark
Where a lattice mast earns its place, and what to settle before ordering one.
A lattice mast is used where a mark has to be seen from a distance and stay in one position for decades: the head of a breakwater, the edge of a quay, a leading line read together with a second mark, or a rock on the shore. The open lattice takes wind loading without the section a solid post would need, and the bolted base plate lets the mast be set on a concrete foundation and taken down again for service.

Frequently asked questions about lattice masts
Which height should I choose?
The height follows the sightline from the fairway and the rules that apply to the mark. The eight standard heights run from 2 to 15 metres. Tell us where the mast goes and what it carries, and we work it out with you.
What is the difference between the two mast tops?
The standard top is a plain plate for mounting equipment. The lantern compatible top is made so that a marine lantern sits directly on the mast without an adapter.
When is extra heavy galvanising worth it?
Where the mast stands in spray, in an industrial atmosphere, or where reaching it for maintenance is difficult. The standard hot-dip galvanising covers ordinary coastal exposure.
