Sector light approach
A sector light defines colour sectors that indicate a vessel's position relative to a charted approach.

Commissioning verifies the status, alarms and controls supported by each connected instrument.

- 01Monitored through NaviGuard
Sector lights
MSM MBL 400S with MF12
Provides sectors up to 12 NM at T=0.74; the specified MBL/MF12 profile connects through NaviGuard.

Sector lights
MSM MEL or Tideland TSL-100
Alternative PEL selected for sector geometry; PowerMonitor monitors current, with no assumed remote settings. PowerGuard, which supplies the lantern, can also monitor its current.

Lattice masts
GMR lattice mast, 2 to 24 m
Supports the selected optic on a designed foundation; mast deflection and mounting stability enter the sector design.
Product page - 04Full Emiko integration
PowerGuard
PowerGuard supply
Supplies the calculated load from battery and optional solar charging; reports its own status and alarms to Emiko.

NaviGuard
NaviGuard controller
Connects the specified serial profile or PowerMonitor current sensing to Emiko.

How it works
From the plan to the
commissioned installation
The marking plan defines the sectors. Survey and acceptance checks verify their installed bearings.
- 01
Survey approach
The survey and marking plan establish sector bearings, colours and the required nominal range.
- 02
Specify sectors
Select one optic for boundary accuracy, sector geometry and coverage; MBL 400S and precision PEL are not interchangeable.
- 03
Confirm mounting
The installation design checks mounting elevation, stability, supply and maintenance access.
- 04
Align light
The light is installed and aligned; observed sector boundaries are recorded for acceptance.
- 05
Verify signals
Verify the MBL/MF12 profile or PEL current monitoring; remote PEL settings require a separately confirmed serial profile.
Where it is used
Sites requiring sector guidance
Harbour and coastal authorities installing sector guidance or replacing an existing sector optic or port entry light.
- 01
A harbour approach requiring defined colour-sector boundaries
- 02
A navigation route with sector bearings established by survey
- 03
An existing light tower requiring a replacement optic
In service
Gjögur sector light installation
The published Gjögur Lighthouse project in Iceland combines a Sabik ODSL HI sector light with a mast, HEKLEO 2 XS racon and backup power. The reported range is up to 14 NM for that installation; it is not a general range rating for the models listed here.

Good to know
Before the
quotation
Can sector boundaries be altered after installation?
Changes require an assessment of the installed optic, mounting and marking plan. Any modified bearings or optical configuration require alignment and acceptance checks.
Which remote controls are available?
The specified MBL/MF12 integration supports only its documented commands. PEL monitoring here uses PowerMonitor current sensing, which provides no optical status or settings. PEL remote control requires a separately confirmed serial profile.
What is required for a quotation?
The enquiry requires surveyed sector bearings, colours, nominal range, mounting elevation, available power and required autonomy. The authority's marking and acceptance requirements should be included.
