Untreated larch floating bridge ordered for Haraldsted Sø

Ringsted ordered a wooden floating bridge for Haraldsted Sø, measuring 2.4 m wide and 6.8 m long. The order specified larch without chemical wood treatment.

What the timber specification means

For this order, the timber specification excludes chemical wood treatment. That is a precise material choice, not a complete environmental assessment. Timber origin, supporting floats, fasteners, transport, maintenance, service life and end-of-life treatment also form part of the project footprint.

Design for the lake and intended use

The structure and anchoring were selected for the lake, intended use and local conditions. Future projects require their own assessment; untreated timber is not automatically suitable for every exposure or maintenance regime.

For current configurations, see wood-deck floating structures. Our floating bridge specification guide outlines the site information needed for a new project.
