Vikingegaarden and Præcisions Teknik Marine merge

Vikingegaarden A/S and Præcisions Teknik Marine announced a merger combining harbor digitization with aids-to-navigation expertise. The announcement set an effective date of 16 October and placed the combined activities under Vikingegaarden A/S.

Two complementary areas of experience

Vikingegaarden had developed ProPower, a web and IoT system for monitoring electricity, water, light and heat consumption and for monitoring maritime markings such as buoys. Customers used installed equipment and an online login to review and control services in their harbors.

Præcisions Teknik Marine brought 35 years of experience supplying maritime-marking solutions. Its work covered buoys, lanterns and beacons for industrial ports, marinas, bridges, straits and coastal waters.

Priorities announced for the merged company

The combined company planned to focus primarily on Danish industrial ports, with four areas of work:

• Environmental work: support ports' plans to reduce energy use and emissions.
• Digitization and efficiency: develop standardized turnkey projects for harbor operations.
• Self service and monitoring: subscription-based systems described in the announcement as a goal of 100 percent self-sufficient operation, with alerts when problems occurred.
• Maritime marking: supply complete marking projects for ports, straits, bridges and waters.

Management arrangements at the merger

The announcement named Thomas Dresler, the previous owner of Præcisions Teknik Marine, as chairman of Vikingegaarden's board. Ulrik Østergaard was to continue as CEO, and Michael O. Jönsson was appointed sales director from October.

"The merger of our companies has created a larger and stronger company with more resources, stronger finances and a better focus on the development and sale of digitization solutions for the Danish industrial ports. This means that we can now also target the really heavy industrial ports in Denmark," says managing director Ulrik Østergaard.

Michael Jönsson was described as a DTU-trained engineer with experience selling complex turnkey solutions and SaaS models internationally and regionally.

"Danish industrial ports are developing rapidly and all ports have ongoing expansions. They demand digitization and systems that can make their everyday operations more efficient. At the same time they want to reduce their CO2 emissions and their energy consumption as part of the industry's overall goal.
